Tiny House Living - The Art of Minimalism

In 2022, 90% of Americans said they would consider living in a tiny home and 31% would buy one. But what about… building one?

Dana daydreamed of small spaces. And now, her family lives in one.

Built entirely from the ground up, no pun intended, Dana, Chris, their daughter Willow, and dog Teague, embrace 36ftx8ft of happiness and pure bliss.

They raise chickens. Eat fresh eggs. And perhaps most importantly, embrace the art of minimalism.

“Minimalism is a lifestyle philosophy that involves intentionally living with fewer possessions, focusing on what matters most, and removing distractions.”

Minimalists believe that happiness comes from life itself, not things. Minimalism can:

  • Eliminate discontent

  • Remove clutter

  • Reclaim valuable time

  • Live fully in the present moment

  • Pursue their passions with fewer hurdles

  • Experience and embrace FREEDOM

“Our home feels light. I love coming home at the end of a long day and I love being home all day. There is always something to organize or something to tend to outside. I am never bored and the lifestyle is fulfilling,” explains Dana, “it keeps my mind at peace and gives me a sense of order and control that I have always longed for. Living in a small space has its challenges, but for now, I wouldn’t have it any other way. Although, one day I’d like to have a flushing toilet again.”

Dana and Willow, when asked where they wanted their tree planted, answered with: wherever needs it most. At that point in time (Jan 2024), the carbon offset of planting a tree was most needed in Ontario.

Carbon Offsets, purchased through, One Tree Planted, offers offsets from US-based projects, certified by the Climate Action Reserve. These offset credits come from projects that aid forest preservation, sustainable forest management and, prevent their conversion for future agricultural developments.
